Madani has partnered with Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) to collaborate on an EU-funded project in Syria that focuses on promoting unarmed civilian protection and interrupting violence.
What does the project do?
Working on the strengths of our two partners, the project will provide a combined curriculum for key individuals and organisations in Syria to work from. This will support the active leaders to promote peace, reduce violence and provide civilian protection.
Madani and NP will also offer training in conflict mediation, civilian protection and violence interruption techniques to more than 50 Syrian civil society leaders, which will in turn reach around 2,000 additional organisations. And to support the local Syrian groups as they put training into practice the project partners will develop and implement plans to encourage and reassure their success.
We believe that only by building a strong and active network of civil society organisation, working across political, religious, and ethnic boundaries can a foundation for a peaceful Syria be achieved.
